– Journey Into the Feminine Mysteries –

Embody. Empower. Express. Evolve.

Danyasa Yoga Arts, created by Sofiah Thom, comprises a dynamic fusion of vinyasa yoga, and expressive movement designed to access creative potential and empower the graceful warrior within. Dance + Vinyasa = Danyasa!

As a Danyasa Yoga Arts teacher, you are encouraged to listen to the wisdom of your body as your innate and ultimate teacher in order to bring your dreams and visions into form.

At Danyasa, we teach and practice yoga guided by the four E’s:  EMBODY, EMPOWER, EXPRESS, EVOLVE.

EMPOWER: While honoring the wisdom of traditional yoga practices, Danyasa Yoga Arts empowers you to explore the wisdom of your own body, mind and spirit as you awaken your graceful warrior and claim your purpose.

EVOLVE: Recognize life is about the journey and how you you show up to live into your pure potentiality, always growing and shifting on this path of evolution.

EMBODY: Come home to the wisdom of your body. Learn the ways of moving and aligning in asana that support your physical and spiritual growth.

EXPRESS: Give yourself permission to let go and allow your authentic self to shine through. Confidence in your uniqueness of style and voice is what makes you a great teacher.

EMBODY: Come home to the wisdom of your body. Learn the ways of moving and aligning in asana that support your physical and spiritual growth.

IS THIS TRAINING FOR ME?

Do you feel ready to step into the role of an embodied feminine leader?
Practice finding and expressing your voice with a supportive group of women as you clarify and crystalize what your unique offering to the world looks like. Through peer teaching, communication exercises and song circles we hold space for you to practice the leadership role in divine feminine grace.
Are you interested in learning more about yoga at its roots beyond the physical practice?
Experience the power of ceremony and ritual to set intentions for the way your life unfolds. Claim your sovereignty and step through the multidimensional portal of the practice of yoga. Through mantra, meditation, dance and asana, we’ll weave together beauty beyond the mat.
Do you feel called to move and dance, but have no dance background?

Movement is our birthright. No dance training or background is necessary to find your flow. It’s not about being “good at it”. We dance to get out of our heads, connect with our bodies, and find the freedom that comes with movement.
Are you curious about the asana practice?

Although dance is blended into this YTT, you will also leave with a solid understanding of Vinyasa class structure. Sun Salutations, key poses and mini sequences will be covered extensively. You will also learn hands on assists and how to safely offer assists and adjustment to your students.

Sophia Faria – 500 E-RYT

Co-Lead Trainer

With a 500 hr YTT and over 5 years of experience teaching globally, Sophia is inspired to share practices that nourish connection, play, and creative sexual expression. With passion, she creates intimate experiences that support tuning into the pleasure of subtle sensation, listening to our inner wisdom and honoring our elemental nature and the sacredness of life. She believes every moment is a practice and offers the opportunity to align with our true nature and highest Self.

Her travels, studies, and work have taken her around the world to swim with wild dolphins, eye gaze with elephants, live off the grid in a forest on a cliff, practice asana with hummingbirds, cover her naked body in mud with a group of women, speak with stars in a desert night, meditate and howl on many full moons, support financial literacy and entrepreneurship in Southern and Eastern Africa and contribute to the social innovation space within the nonprofit and governmental sectors of Canada, among a few other ventures. She is also a published writer and copyright and editor. She is passionate about systemic change, conscious business, teaching, writing and sharing ancient teachings.

Sophia has taught retreats and classes around the world, including in South Africa, Hawaii, Costa Rica, Brazil, and Guatemala. While exploring many modalities of yoga, her focus is on Classical Hatha Yoga, Tantra, and Shamanism. Her teachers include Ananda Shakti of the Bihar School, Shakti Malan, Margot Anand, Rod Stryker, Micheal Brown, and CJ Ananda of the Kula Collective. For the past three years, Sophia has studied with and worked closely in collaboration with Sofiah Thom and the Temple Body Arts School of Sacred Sensuality and Dance. She is on the path of becoming a certified Temple Body Artist.

Currently, based on Salt Spring Island, she teaches regular classes to her local community and has a private practice as a Somatic Sex Educator, supporting individuals and couples in the realms of wellbeing, sex, relationship, and intimacy. For groups, she offers and co-facilitates retreats and workshops on topics including Sexual Awakening for Women, Jade Egg PlayShops, and EcoSexuality Pleasure Practices. You can read more about her at soulfoodsex.com

Colynn Vosburgh 500 RYT

Anatomy Teacher

Colynn Vosburgh, a Canadian Registered Nurse/Medical Student turned Yoga Instructor, brings her own unique flare of west meets east to the subject of anatomy. After specializing for over 17 years in the Emergency Room, the current state of the medical system encouraged Colynn to leave her medical career and pursue a new one, one that would impact the health of the world in a more positive way, teaching yoga. Her knowledge of the body, dis-ease, injury, prevention and health, and her fun, easy going nature combine to create an interactive, experiential and exciting class that offers the knowledge necessary to understand body mechanics, safely instructing students through an asana practice and yet bringing awareness to the philosophical and traditional healing methods and understanding the impact of self related to physical health.

Colynn has practiced yoga for over 19 years, and chose to increase her knowledge of yoga by attending a teacher training over 5 years ago, that coincidentally started at the same time her short list to medical school came through. It was apparent to her almost immediately that Medical School was not the answer to health care burnout, living her passion, supporting people in self-healing and empowering women was. Fresh out of yoga teacher training, Colynn was asked to teach the anatomy portion of a YTT and it wasn’t long until Med School and nursing were history. Colynn has participated in over 12 YTTs as an anatomy instructor and has also co-facilitated her own training.

Colynn has also been visiting Costa Rica for over 4 years, running several retreats and eventually making it one of her home bases, now that she lives the nomadic lifestyle. While in Dominical, Colynn found Danyasa and eventually Sofiah Thom and became a guest teacher and organic part of this training.

 Maite Onochie- 300 E-RYT

Special Guest Teacher

Maite will be joining us to share an introduction to prenatal and women’s yoga. After 15 years of working internationally as a social anthropologist specialised in early childhood development and childrearing, Maite’s deep heart-knowing took her on a profound pilgrimage, from her heart into the depths of her womb. It was here that she realized the need in these modern times to re-inhabit our bodies, and in doing so, the potentiality in ending cycles of violence.

Today, she weaves the ancient practices of the yogic tradition, her background as birthworker and the latest science that supports and reaffirms the ancient ways of returning to the body through intentional breathwork, expressive movement, prayer and intention.

Maite supports women to explore, dive deep and access the inner wisdom that enables one to live in joy, liberation, pure presence and radical pleasure.
In the same way that Maite supports birthing people to remember how to inhabit the divine vessel that is the body and how to trust in their ability to birth lovingly and pleasurably, she calls upon all of us to access and TRUST the sacred potential of conscious conception, conscious gestation, conscious birth and ultimately conscious parenting.

The more we live connected to our bodies and its cyclical rhythms the more we will ultimately live in harmony with the Great Cosmic Womb.
